2 smokers in one day

Two boats smoking our air 24/7. Yuck.

My half dozen or so e-mails to news organizations and elected officials got exactly one response, that from an assistant to a city commissioner. But it didn't say too much. Here's another boat running 'round the clock, and nobody cares. I couldn't get the name of this one with my camera.

OK, this picture is not as damning as the ones below, but it still shows a ship docked inside a major city, running its engines all day and night, causing more air pollution than it has a right to. The ship is some sort of Navy ship, the Zeus. Again, my crummy camera is slowing down my cause.

What's up with the smog?

Why do oceangoing boats get to pollute city air with impunity? I'll bet no other industry could get away with it. These pictures were taken near the University of Portland. The name of the ship is hard to read from my cheap camera, but it's Alaskan Navigator. Complain to your government officials today!
